prepare players to play middle school and high school basketball in a positive environment that builds confidence

The RGSBB is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization for girls in grades 5-8 living within the Lake Washington School District's Redmond High School boundary.  The mission of our program is to prepare players to play middle school and high school basketball in a positive environment that builds confidence
Open gyms are held in the spring and fall. Open gyms are held so that girls who want to play on a Redmond Girls Select team can learn and practice new skills to prepare them for fall tryouts.  Coaches from select teams are present at all open gyms to teach and help girls practice these skills. Open gym attendance is highly suggested

Tryouts are held in September. No pre-registration is required, however, the participant is required to sign a waiver.

Practices begin right after teams are selected (before October) and run through the end of the season about the middle to end of March.

Redmond Select participates in the Puget Sound Travel League which includes teams from most local high schools. Approximately 15 games are scheduled weekends (typically one game Saturday and one Sunday) from December through February.

In addition to League games, our teams typically play five local tournaments and one travel tournament per season (see below).  Total games played each season is usually 35-40.  Individual teams may play more or fewer tournaments than the typical amount.  Team by team tournament schedules are decided by the teams.
            Veteran’s Day weekend
            Thanksgiving break
            Martin Luther King weekend
            President’s Day weekend
            PSTL Final Tournament (early March)
            Wenatchee Tournament (mid-March)

Expectations are that Redmond Select Basketball will be players number one sport priority in the regular season. We recognize that many players are multi-sport athletes participating in fall sports whose schedules compete with the pre-season (October to November) practice and tournament schedule and players need to finish up their commitment to these sports. Players will not be penalized for missing practices or games in October and November. However, players attending on a regular bases will probably be better prepared for early season games.  Players must identify potential conflicts during tryouts
The cost to play is approximately $400.  This does not include travel expenses.
